Flash booklets

The following Flash booklet examples open in separate browser windows:
Example 1 | Example 2 | Example 3
These "flip books" provide opportunities for co-op advertising and a more in-depth look at the offerings of a single merchant. They were built using a Flash extension, customizing the Actionscript as needed. The flipbook is a single .swf file that uses XML to import each page (multiple .swf, .gif or .jpg files). Pages can be flipped by dragging the corners and by pressing back and forward buttons. Pages may contain buttons enabling you to click through to an advertiser's website, video clips, animations and essentially anything else that can be done in Flash.

North Bay Home Improvement
http://www.pressdemocrat.com/homeimprovement

North Bay Home Improvement is a PressDemocrat.com advertising vehicle for home improvement specialists in Marin and Sonoma counties. The site provides useful information for homeowners interested in remodeling, saving on their energy bills, landscaping, you name it. Clients can "own" categories such as "Pools/Spas" by providing advertorial content about their businesses on category pages. Users have incentive to contact these businesses and take advantage of their "Special Offers" also advertised on this site. The homepage features an RSS feed of home improvement-related articles.

Sonoma County Relocation
http://www.sonomacountyrelocation.com

Created to assist those considering a move to or from Sonoma County, this Realtor's web site is quite popular. I wrote much of the text on this site, including the sections describing the past and present of each town, replete with historical photos. I also designed the SCR logo.
Splash pages

The local offices of Prudential California Realty needed a web ad that targeted female homebuyers. In addition to developing the Flash banner ad, I wrote the copy. Because Prudential is such a large organization, it wouldn't do to link the ad to the main site. So I built a splash page with links to local Prudential offices. This campaign appeared on both PressDemocrat.com and Yahoo!

The local Mercedes-Benz dealership needed to use corporate branding to
advertise their "Summer Love" sale. The Flash ad was built
based on this branding with a splash page to elaborate on the offer in
the ad. This campaign appeared on both PressDemocrat.com and Yahoo!

As a longtime sponsor, Petaluma's Theatre District/Basin Street Properties' banner ad was placed in the most prominent advertising position on the homepage of Petaluma360, a vertical of The Press Democrat. The ad linked to a splash page I built, which was updated monthly with upcoming events and new merchants.

Rich Media Online Advertising
Note: the offers in the ads below may no longer be valid. They are displayed on this site for the purpose of showcasing my work.

This web browser screen capture is an example of "Rich Media"...online banner ads with a kick. The above example is known as a "sliding billboard" or "pushdown ad". On the left, you can see the collapsed version of the ad, which spans the width of the page above the navigation bar. When clicked on, the ad expands, pushing the nav bar and the rest of the page down. After a few seconds, the ad contracts but will also do so if the user clicks the "close" button. This functionality is implemented with a third-party product through which I control the parameters such as how many seconds the expanded version stays open. Generally, I set sliding billboards up so that they open automatically the first time a visitor visits the page but only have it open automatically once per hour for the individual user. This is one of many samples of rich media campaigns I have created.
